Join the Adventure: Celebrating 75 Years of Scouting with Pack 24

For 75 years, New Freedom's Cub Scout Pack 24 has been an essential part of our community, providing local youth with opportunities for personal growth, community service, and outdoor adventure.

Established in 1949 and chartered by the New Freedom Lions, Pack 24 continues to offer a welcoming environment where boys and girls can learn important life skills, make lasting memories, and grow as responsible leaders.

Since its first meeting on April 30, 1949, the Pack has become a cornerstone of New Freedom, helping children build character and values through fun and educational activities. The Cub Scout program is designed to foster a sense of belonging, encourage community service, and equip children with the tools they need to make good decisions as they grow.

Whether it's helping others, learning new skills, or spending time with family, Pack 24 creates an environment where kids can thrive while developing into confident and capable individuals.

Cub Scouts provides children with a range of exciting opportunities. Pack 24 members go camping to learn basic outdoor skills, compete in thrilling Pinewood Derby races, and take part in the annual Scouting for Food drive, making a positive impact on our community.

The fun doesn’t stop there—kids also enjoy Pack cookouts, field trips to local science centers, and many more exciting activities designed to expand their horizons. Every experience is an opportunity for children to challenge themselves, build friendships, and gain confidence as they explore new interests.

One of the unique aspects of the Cub Scout experience is the way it brings families together. Parents and guardians play an active role alongside their children, creating lasting bonds as they participate in activities and share experiences. This collaboration not only strengthens family connections, but also reinforces the importance of teamwork, responsibility, and giving back to others.

Pack 24 is open to all boys and girls in grades K-5, making it a great way for local youth to join a supportive, positive peer group. Pack meetings are typically held on the third Tuesday of every month during the school year, and Den meetings take place at various times throughout the month.

Here’s to another 75 years of learning, leadership, and making memories!

Our Mission

The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Scout Law

A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

Scout Oath

“On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”

The Scouting Edge

A Study in Ethics and Character in America was conducted by Scouting America in partnership with the Harris Poll. The study examines how participation in Scouting contributes to the future success of its members. The research highlights key benefits such as:

  • Leadership Development: Scouts gain important leadership skills that help them succeed in education and careers.
  • Character Building: Scouting encourages values like responsibility, integrity, and ethical behavior, which are crucial for personal success.
  • Academic Achievement: Scouts tend to perform better academically due to skills like goal-setting and time management.
  • Career Readiness: Scouting teaches teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills that are valuable in the workplace.
  • Community Engagement: Scouts develop a sense of service and civic responsibility, leading to lifelong community involvement.

In short, the study shows that Scouting provides youth with the skills and qualities needed to thrive in school, careers, and life, offering them a strong foundation for future success.
